Commissioner Michael McGrath will host an Implementation Dialogue on the application of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on 16 July in Brussels.The dialogue will allow stakeholders to exchange with the Commissioner and provide their views and ideas on the application of the GDPR. The implementation dialogue will also explore pathways of improvement that maintain the current high level of data protection in the EU. The summary conclusions from the Implementation Dialogue will be available on this page and on the website dedicated to implementation dialogues.ObjectiveThe objective of this dialogue is to collect stakeholders’ experiences and challenges encountered when applying the GDPR, as well as their suggestions for improvement.The discussion will be structured around four themes:Further simplifying and reducing administrative burdenIncreasing legal certainty, reducing fragmentation and further harmonising enforcementFacilitating compliance with the GDPRClarifying the articulation with other digital legislationParticipantsThe event is upon invitation only, and in-person.Participants represent mainly business organisations and civil society organisations.BackgroundPresident von der Leyen tasked all Commissioners to organise two Implementation Dialogues per year to align implementation with realities on the ground.
