Andreas Witt

Professor Dr. Andreas Witt is the Head of the Department of Digital Linguistics at the Leibniz Institute for the German Language in Mannheim, Germany. He also holds a professorship in Computational Humanities & Text Technology at the University of Mannheim and an honorary professorship in Digital Humanities at the University of Heidelberg. Previously, he was a Professor at the Institute for Digital Humanities at the University of Cologne.

As the spokesperson for the Text+ Consortium within Germany's National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI), Andreas Witt spearheads initiatives to digitize research, teaching, and knowledge exchange in the text- and language-oriented humanities. From 2019 to 2022, he served on the Board of Directors at CLARIN ERIC, where he contributed to the strategic development of language resources and the advancement of language technology infrastructure.

Andreas Witt’s expertise lies in integrating computational tools with humanities research, fostering innovation and collaboration in digital linguistics. His leadership in major projects underscores his commitment to building sustainable infrastructures for interdisciplinary research and resource-sharing.
